(Championspk)The last the patience of former Olympians ran out and they decided to protest against the wrong polices of the PHF in front of Parliament at 10am in Islamabad on Thursday group leaders Shahnaz Sheikh and Samiullah told on Wednesday.
Shahnaz and Samiullah have reached Islamabad and were finalising the arrangements of protesting when the National Assembly would be in session.
They said that all their followers and supporters had been told to gather in Islamabad to participate in the protest in front of Parliament so that the government woke up and took notice of the ruined condition of hockey in the country.
Talking to this scribe from the spot where they discussed the protest strategy, they said that Islahuddin would reach Islamabad before the protest.
Ayaz Mehmood, Qamar Zia, Salim Nazim, Saleem Sherwani and Tariq Imran have already reached Islamabad.
Despite heavy fog across Punjab, many other Olympians and international and domestic players would come to participate in the protest, they said.
Shahnaz said that the hockey clubs affected in the recent PHF elections would also participate in the protest. “We have been telling the high-ups of the federal government for the past two years that due to the PHF’s wrong policies the national game is going down and we might disappear from the world hockey map. But no action was taken. What happened in the Junior World Cup where eight or nine senior players were playing for the junior side but Pakistan still could not qualify for the next round,” he said.
Samiullah said that the protest would continue for around two hours.
Shahnaz appealed to the PM Nawaz Sharif, who is also the patron in chief of the PHF, to save the national hockey.
