(By Rashid Ali Siddiqui)Pakistani cricket team, led by Misbah-ul-Haq is leaving from Lahore to Colombo, Sri Lanka on Monday night to play a three-match Test series followed by five ODIs and two T20 matches.
“We are ready to take the challenge from Sri Lanka at their home soil. Our boys are ready and in good frame of mind to give positive results,” said captain before departure.
He said that players worked hard to improve their fitness and they are able to deliver in hard conditions.
The 15-member Pakistan squad includes Misbah-ul-Haq (c), Azhar Ali (vc), Ahmed Shehzad, Asad Shafiq, Ehsan Adil, Haris Sohail, Imran Khan, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Shan Masood, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah, Younis Khan, Zulfiqar Babar.
It may be mentioned that Pakistan opening batsmen Ahmed Shehzad and Shan Masood have been recalled for the three-test series against Sri Lanka while offspinner Saeed Ajmal missed out as he still needs to revive his golden form with the ball.
Both openers were not selected in the two-test series in Bangladesh, which Pakistan won 1-0 last month on different reasons while Shan was on Sri Lankan tour with Pakistan A team, Ahmed Shehzad was sidelined due to discipline issue on head coach Waqar Younis report.
Ajmal has been struggling with his remodeled bowling action since returning from suspension in February. He took part in the limited-overs series against Bangladesh but failed to excel.
Chief selector Haroon Rashid said the selectors kept form and fitness in mind, while also considering feedback from the team management on performances in Bangladesh.
Legspinner Yasir Shah is the only specialist slow bowler in the squad, while all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will be utilized as an off-spinner. Fast bowlers Imran Khan and Ehsan Adil have been included in the 15-man squad
